IACSC NVQ's

What is an NVQ?

An NVQ is a National Vocational Qualification.

The IACSC NVQ

A Level 2 NVQ is now available for Specialist Installation occupations – Insulated Enclosures, for industrial and commercial applications.

The CSCS Level 2 NVQ is entitled “Insulated Panel Installer”.

The NVQ is a work-based course and does not require any classroom activity.

Operatives will need to undertake a Health and Safety test (CSCS) and can be certified as an “Experienced Worker” to receive a card valid for one year in order to gain an NVQ to Level 2.

At any one time the industry could include up to several thousand operatives who require accreditation and NVQs could be considered as follows :

1.  NVQ1 - Knowledge of Health and Safety for all site labour.

2.  NVQ2 - Basic Erectors

3.  NVQ3 - Level 3 for Supervisors will be available in the near     future.

The Certificate Awarding Body could be either CITB or City & Guilds.

Grandfather Rights

Based on the CITB’s view that the IACSC’s NVQ scheme is “non-aligned”, the Grandfather Rights need to be established within 2 years from the development of the agreed (by CITB) NVQ list.
