Dear reader,

Together with the Executive Committee and the Secretariat I should like to wish all    IACSC members our very best wishes for a prosperous New Year.      IACSC looks forward to your support in 2008 as the Association continues to work on behalf of your industry.

At this time last year we reminded you that Cool Comments remains a medium for you to communicate your views to the rest of the industry.     Letters or articles for future editions would be very welcome and should be forwarded to the Secretariat or myself david@thompsett.com

David Thompsett

Executive Secretary

Executive Committee

Mr Ollie Turner, a founder member of this Association and a member of the Executive since that time, has, due to his impending retirement, resigned from the Executive Committee.    We extend our thanks to Ollie, currently the longest-standing member of the committee, for his contributions and support to the Association over this long period.    I am sure you will join me in wishing Ollie a long and happy retire- ment.

Currently, therefore, the Executive Committee members are :

  • Mr Simon Thomas - Eurobond Laminates Ltd
  • Mr Peter Clayton - ISD Coldstores Ltd
  • Mr Richard Daley - Hemsec Ltd
  • Mr Mike McColl - Isoclad Ltd
  • Mr Tom McGuinness - Kingspan Controlled Environments Ltd

Membership

During 2007 we welcomed to the Association the following new members:

  •  Advanced Panel Technology Ltd
  •  Bluemay Ltd
  •  S Tysoe Installations Ltd

Current membership numbers 27.  A full list of members' details can be found on our web-site   www.iacsc.org  and click on to European Division.

The membership subscription for 2008 is £750.00 plus VAT and invoices should be received shortly.  We would, of course, appreciate your prompt payment.

Technical Committee

The Technical Committee has been meeting monthly in a concerted effort to finalise   the revision of our Design Guide, entitled Design, Construction, Specification and Fire Management of Insulated Envelopes for Temperature Controlled Environments.

Launch of the Guide is scheduled for the first week in April 2008 and we would welcome members' attendance at this event.   An update of Cool Comments will be circulated in the New Year giving full details.

We are sorry to learn that Mr Richard Price, a stalwart on our Technical Committee, will be leaving the employ of Eurobond Laminates Ltd at the end of this year.  We thank him for the valuable contributions he has made and wish him well in his future career.

Thanks are also extended to the other members of the Committee and IFC for their devotion to bringing this revision to a conclusion.

National Specialist Contractors Council (NSCC)

The NSCC is an umbrella body for Specialist Contractor Associations of which IACSC is not a member.  By belonging to NSCC, member associations gain the benefit of a more powerful collective voice on behalf of their contracting members for issues which are common to all small contracting companies.

NSCC is holding Fair Payment Seminars on Wednesday 30 January 2008 in London at the NSCC offices at Carthusian Court and on Tuesday 4 March 2008 in Edinburgh at the offices of Anderson Strathern.  The half-day seminars will focus on the issue of fair payment and offer practical tips for improving your chances of getting paid on time.  Places at the seminar cost £25.

As a special offer to IACSC members, both contracting and manufacturing members may attend either of these seminars.  For further information and a booking form go to

www.fairpaymentcampaign.co.uk

I propose to visit the London event and would appreciate hearing (by e-mail) from interested members who take up this offer.
